Plumbing in Metamora, IL covers two villages on one map: an 1836 county-seat core around the old courthouse, and newer subdivisions that took the population from 2,700 in 2000 to 3,904 in 2020. We come from Washington, about 7 miles and 10 minutes away, and the first question on any call is how old the house and its pipes are.
An 1836 Village With a Courthouse and Old Pipe Behind Its Houses
Metamora was founded as Hanover in 1836 and renamed in 1845. It was the Woodford County seat until the county moved the seat to Eureka in the 1890s, and the Greek Revival courthouse built in 1845 still stands as a state historic site. Abraham Lincoln handled more than 70 cases in it, according to Wikipedia.
Houses near that core were built when the village was a county seat, and their pipes show it. Supply lines from before roughly the 1960s may be galvanized steel, which rusts from the inside and loses pressure long before it leaks. Drains from the same era may be cast iron or clay with joints that open over time.

The ring of newer houses is a different job. Metamora added more than 1,200 people between 2000 and 2020, and those homes have plastic drain and PEX or copper supply. Their calls run to water heaters, fixtures and sump pumps instead.
Village Wells, Lead Service Lines and Septic Subdivisions
Metamora's water is groundwater. The village's 2025 water report lists three wells, drawing from a confined aquifer about two miles west of the village center. The village provides both water and sewer, so most homes inside it connect to village mains.
The same report says the village is responsible for removing lead pipes, and it advises owners to look at their own plumbing too. In an older house, that means asking what the service pipe is where it enters the basement. The report also notes that homes around the wells use single-house septic tanks, a reminder that a Metamora address is not automatically on the sewer. Hardness is not listed, so a tap test is the way to find out.

Plumbing Work for Metamora's Old and New Homes

Seven Miles Northeast: What Happens When You Call
We reach Metamora through Illinois Route 116, which becomes Mount Vernon Street in the village, and Route 89 comes in from the north. In normal conditions that is about 10 minutes from Wilshire Drive. Winter changes the answer, and we say so when you call.
- Old house, one fixture. We start at the fixture and its shutoff, then follow the pipe back.
- Old house, many fixtures. Several slow drains point to the main line, so we begin at the cleanout and run a camera once it is open.
- Newer house. We check the parts that wear: valves, tank anodes, pump floats.
- Every visit. You get a clear, upfront quote before work starts and a plain explanation of the cause.

Village Hall, Black Partridge Park and Who Answers for What
Water and sewer questions go to Village Hall at (309) 367-4044, since the village runs both. If you are giving directions, the courthouse and Black Partridge Park are the landmarks most people know. A plumbing license is required in Illinois, and any number can be checked on the IDPH lookup.
Metamora Township High School draws students from Metamora, Germantown Hills and Spring Bay, so the three share more than a ZIP code. We also cover Eureka and the rest of Woodford County.

“I am so thankful for Monte coming out during the coldest day with blizzard conditions with same day service. He was very kind and worked quickly to rectify issues with plumbing and gave suggestion for future work that needs to occur to prevent any further issues. His services are very reasonable given the work that he did. I will always use him for any issues in the future. Thank you for all that you did for us today and so thankful that you got home safe!”
“Monte and Hunter came out on a Sunday (morning no less!) to help us with a mess from a backed up sewer. Lots of roots! They used two different sized cutters with a monster snake and cleaned it out all the way to the city sewer. We'd had another "sewer service" a few weeks ago and the experience was night and day different. I definitely recommend them.”
“Had water leak behind laundry room. Called Monty on a Saturday morning and he came right over. He did a wonderful job to fix the issue. Very professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this company.”
